Biography

BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Ahmed received his Bachelor’ Degree with Honors in Sociology from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in 1989. He went to medical school at the University of Michigan and then stayed their to complete his general surgery internship and Urology residency, to graduate in 1998. He received the Bronze Beeper Award for teaching and won the Michigan Urologic Society Resident Award while he was in training.

Following graduation, Dr. Ahmed returned to his hometown of Canton where he joined Affiliates in Urology. This group later merged with Comprehensive Urology, and since then, Dr. Ahmed has been providing urology services primarily at Beaumont Dearborn, Wayne and Taylor. He was one of the first urologists to begin using the Greenlight laser to treat BPH as an outpatient. He has also been actively involved in the robotics and prosthetic program. Dr. Ahmed is a general urologist with a broad range of experience expanding the past 25 years. 

Dr. Ahmed currently serves on the teaching faculty for the Beaumont Wayne family practice program the the Wayne State University Urology Department. He is a clinical assistant professor at Wayne State University. He also serves as Chief of the Medical Staff at Beaumont Wayne Hospital and has served other roles at Beaumont in the past including Chief of Surgery. 

He has received many professional accolades including being mentioned in the Detroit Hour Magazine Top Docs on multiple occasions, most recently in 2020. He was honored in 2019 with a State of Michigan Special Tribute by the Michigan House of Representatives for exemplar leadership, community service and contributions towards the goal of promoting unity and cooperation among diverse communities, cultures, ethnic backgrounds and race. He received the Community Service Award and the Outstanding Young Asian American of the Year in 2011. 

When he is not in clinic or at the hospital, Dr Ahmed can be found mountain biking in local state parks with his wife and four kids trying to catch up. He also coaches soccer, volunteers at local non profits, reads books, and participates in an unhealthy amount of discussions regarding star wars.
